Abstract
The recent migration from Venezuela to Colombia is an unprecedented phenomenon in the history of Latin America, and so far, little has been investigated about the personal views and feelings of migrants in this host country. In this work we study the factors that affect the perception of discrimination and cultural identification by the Venezuelan migrant population in Colombia, we use an ordered non-linear model and data from the Encuesta Pulso de la Migración (EPM) carried out by the Departamento Administrativo Nacional de Estadística (DANE). We found that factors such as being registered in a registry for migrants, having a passport, being working, age and household size are highly significant factors when analyzing perceptions. These results are relevant for the implementation of public policies that seek to improve the quality of life of the growing Venezuelan population in Colombia.
